SEPTEMBER 2004

Hi everybody and thanks for checking in. As usually I have slacked off on updates, but this time for good reason. I have no time to sit and write! Kailey has me on my toes! She and Kevin are double trouble these days.

I would like to begin by telling you all how Kailey is getting all over the house. She is crawling and she is FAST! I don’t know if many of you know this, but crawling is something we didn’t expect to see for some time, if at all. She has blown us away yet again. She crawls now with her head held high. You can hear her little grunts coming towards you from around the corner. She is everywhere I am these days. She waits outside the bathroom door, she comes into the bedroom and kitchen with me. It is really amazing how quickly she is on the move!

Kailey is also bearing weight on her little legs. She likes to be held up so her feet touch the ground and she bounces or dances. I am happy to say that standing looks like it is in the future for Kailey. Amazing really!

Our girl has so many words and word attempts it’s hard to keep count. Her one favorite word these days seems to be ELMO. Oh Kailey is all about Elmo. She just LOVES him. She also says Mama and Grandma (wama) and now she says Daddy and Kevin (cubba) too. She has so many other words to go along with those, but those are the special ones!

Halloween is around the corner and Kailey is going to be a bumblebee. We are looking forward to taking her out this year, we are sure she will have a blast!

In November we are planning on going to Florida to see Nana and Grandpa. We will have Thanksgiving dinner with Aunt Robyn and Uncle Ed, cousins Russ, Heather and Sammy. We can’t wait to see everybody, but we aren’t crazy enough to head down until those hurricanes are long gone!

Kailey and Kevin would like to let everybody know that they are going to have a new baby brother or sister to play with in March.

MAY 2004

Wow, we have had so much happening in the past few months and Mommy has slacked off on the updates. Sorry everybody.

In the past few months Kailey and Kevin had a vacation on Florida to see Nana and Grandpa. Mommy and Daddy did the driving. The kids were really great in the car for that long drive. Then a month later we all went down to Maryland for Easter and we saw Nana and Grandpa again, Uncle Jack, Aunt Sheila, Aunt Suzanne, Uncle David & cousins Kristin, Danny, Caitie, and Shannon. We all had a great time!

When all of the traveling was out of our systems we buckled down on work. Kailey had lots of therapy sessions to make up, and it all paid off. Kailey is doing fantastic in all areas of her therapy.

Our biggest Kailey news right now is that Kailey has learned some words in sign language as well as some verbal words. Kailey can do the signs for "more" "finished" "eat" "up" "thank you" and she says the words "up" "hi" "bye" "momma" and "nana".

Kailey is rolling from her back to her belly and she is getting stronger every day. She can almost sit up from a laying down position all on her own. She does sit up from an inclined position, and she pivots herself all around.

Kailey has been spending some special time with her Grandma. She goes upstairs and they spend a lot of one on one time playing and talking. She really loves to be alone with her grandma, and grunts and growls when Kevin and Mommy come to get her.

We promise to keep up more on the happenings. Mommy is a great big slacker!

FEBRUARY 2004

Kailey is one year old! In this past year Kailey has had 8 different surgeries, her most recent being her cleft palate repair. She has defied the odds over and over again. Kailey is playing peak a boo and the itsy bitsy spider. She is sitting up on her own for short periods of time, and she is beginning to chatter.

Kailey receives therapy through Early Intervention 9 times a week. She is receiving therapy to help her swallow and suck, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and special instruction. These therapies help her to fine tune the skills she needs to feed herself, sit up and stand on her own, use both hands in play, and sharpen her cognitive skills.

We are looking forward to a surgery free year ahead of us. This year we are going to focus on getting Kailey strong and fat! At 12 months old she is only 13 pounds.

WE HOPE YOU COME BACK AND VISIT OFTEN
AS WE POST MORE HAPPENINGS IN
KAILEY'S LIFE!
